Story notes:
If you read Shakespeare, you may know already, but in olden days they believed the body was composed of four humours. These were black bile, yellow bile, phlegm and blood. Basically they thought diseases were a result of an imbalance of these substances. The cure was to get them balanced again somehow. Blood letting was the most common practice, as it was the easiest humor to remove. This is why leeches were considered a cure for everything.

The question arises as to why I would mention humours in a story that's in no way historically accurate. I don't know, I just do what amuses myself.
