Panel by panel commentary:
1. So, apparently orange also rhymes with "sporange", the casing in which spores on a plant are created. Melinda is unhappy her last name doesn't make for any good poetry.
2. Karl doesn't hate everything he reads, so much as he is hardwired to nitpick all literature.
3. Karl, meanwhile, is busy reading "My Most Petite Equine: Friendship is Heretical Magic." He hates it, but must read it because it's popular and he must be able to skewer it correctly.
4. Awkward silence.
5. Either this is a less than subtle seduction move, or she is completely oblivious.
6. Ted: This moment keeps getting better and better!
7. Oh, so that's what that smell was.
8. Damn it, Mel, quit encouraging them.
9. Maybe he's born with it. Maybe it's animal fat.

That is a spot on impersonation of Karl in the first panel.

Karl would not be amused by this.

Her impersonation is uncanny. Bravo. Also, Ted never fails to be a cutie.
